BRIEF PROPHECY SKETCH: Intense hatred of Jews by Russia, the European Union, Arab/Muslim nations, China, North Korea, and other nations exists now, and will accelerate until the Rapture and thereafter into the Tribulation. Nations will conspire against Israel to remove it as a nation from the Middle East, that its name will no longer be remembered. Anti-Israeli terrorism will continue, as man's peace efforts will fail dismally. Russia and the Muslim nations will attack Israel in a sudden, unprovoked, and overwhelming invasion, but God promises that Israel, standing alone without allies, will prevail. Although formerly an ally, America's interest in protecting Israel will shamefully continue to fall.

REBIRTH OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE— THE EUROPEAN UNION:
BRIEF PROPHECY SKETCH: Re-unification and desire for world prominence and dominance characterize this end-time super-power. Europe was a shifting, unstable patchwork of nations since the fall of the Roman Empire. Following World War II, European nations joined to form the European Union (EU). The EU will become the major force in the Western world, as the United States of America loses power, strength, possible financial collapse, and relevance.

THE UNHOLY TRINITY— SATAN, ANTICHRIST, AND FALSE PROPHET:
BRIEF PROPHECY SKETCH: An evil Satanic system of world rule characterizes this end-time alliance. Since his expulsion from Heaven, Satan has worked to replace God in the hearts of man and to destroy the only creation made in God's image (possession of an eternal spirit)— man. During the Tribulation (the seven-year period following the Rapture), an evil government will arise. The visible personages of this government will be the Antichrist and the False Prophet, but they seek to serve their master, Satan. This Unholy Trinity (Satan, Antichrist, and False Prophet) will establish a powerful one-world government, will ruthlessly crush their opponents, and will unmercifully kill Jews and Christians. We are even now moving toward a global (one-world) government, currency, and religion (or lack of religion). As globalism is increasingly accepted, the work of the Antichrist's government will become easier. The Antichrist will arise from a revived Roman Empire. In Nebuchadnezzar's dream of a statue (Daniel, chapter 2), the legs of iron represent the Roman Empire, and the feet of clay and iron represent the European Union. There are two legs, and the Roman Empire had western (Rome) and eastern (Constantinople) divisions. Prophecy students differ in their conjecture of whether the Antichrist will arise from the western or eastern divisions. Significant change in the United States, from capitalism to socialism, may aid in formation of a one world government.

THE KING OF THE NORTH— RUSSIA AND HER ALLIES:
BRIEF PROPHECY SKETCH: Awakening of a giant hungry for world power and restoration of her former power will characterize end-time Russia. For much of Russia's history, she existed as a vast country of rich tsars (czars) and peasants, with primarily an agrarian economy. Following the Russian Revolution in 1917, she became the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), and served as the strongest and most dangerous example of Communism. The USSR collapsed in 1991, becoming Russia, with improvement in personal freedoms and capitalistic ventures and ease of Cold War tensions. Internal problems, dissolution of associated Soviet states, difficult economic conditions, and a feeling of inferiority by many persons longing for USSR's former superpower status have caused a return toward increased buildup of weapons of wars and tensions with Western nations, under the leadership of former KGB official Vladimir Putin. An anti-Semitic Russia has befriended Muslim nations. Many Russian Jews took advantage of the window of freedom following the USSR collapse to flee Russia and come home to Israel. A powerful Russia, known in the Bible as Magog, will be prominent in end-time events, when she and her Muslim confederates join forces in an unprovoked attack against Israel (Ezekiel, chapters 38 - 39). Deserted by other nations, God will rescue Israel from this massive attack. Either immediately before or immediately after this war, the Resurrection/ Rapture will occur, followed by the seven year Tribulation.

THE KINGS OF THE SOUTH— ARABIAN, AFRICAN, AND OTHER ISLAMIC NATIONS (INCLUDING IRAN):
BRIEF PROPHECY SKETCH: Continuing intense hatred of Israel and Jews by these nations, located to the east and south of Israel, will characterize the end of time. Possessing great wealth from the sale of petroleum and befriended by Russia, China, and North Korea, these nations possess inordinate military power. These nations actively or passively harbor anti-Israeli terrorist groups. A branch of Islam, whose followers are apocalyptic Muslims, believe that the Twelfth Imam, Imam Mahdi, will not come to Earth to convert all persons to Islam unless there is worldwide chaos, strife, and war. Terrorism and stockpiling of weapons of mass destruction have their origin in a matter of faith, that engaging Israel in a war will hasten the coming of the Mahdi.

BRIEF PROPHECY SKETCH:Teeming populations define the destiny of the Far East at the end of time. Much of the world's population is present in nations of the Far East. With abundant, cheap labor, these nations manufacture much of the goods and supply many services for the rest of the world. With abundant population and a one child per family policy, some nations have a disproportionate excess of males. John tells (Revelation) of end-time wars. Toward the end of the Tribulation, an armed force of unprecedented size (200-million men!) will be deployed westward to attack the Antichrist's forces in Israel (Revelation 9:15-16). Even now, preparations are being made for a future war of this magnitude, including: (1) Eastern nations have little regard for Western nations, except as trading partners; (2) Eastern nations possess nuclear weapons, missiles, and modern military weapons; (3) China alone has more than 200-million soldiers in her active and reserve military forces; (4) a super highway across Tibet and neighboring countries will stretch from China to the Middle East, which would seem impractical except some day vast numbers of men and heavy military materials will need to be moved from the East to the Middle East; and (5) the Turkish government has constructed the Ataturk Dam, which will facilitate crossing the formerly difficult barrier of the Euphrates River. BRIEF PROPHECY SKETCH: Persecution and martyrdom of Christians and Jews of unprecedented scale will characterize the end of time, especially during the Tribulation. The first recorded Christian martyred for his faith was Stephen (Acts 6:8 - 7:60). Since Stephen, an estimated 70-million Christians have been martyred, 45.5 milliuon in the Twentieth Century alone. In the Tribulation, all who refuse to engage in the unforgivable blasphemy of accepting the Antichrist as god and receiving the mark of the Beast, will be executed (Revelation 13:15). BRIEF PROPHECY SKETCH: A weak Christian church— especially in countries that will be ruled by the Antichrist's government— will charcaterize Christian faith at the end of the age. Lack of strong faith and service will characterize many Christians, as their love for the Christ grows cold and they are deluded by Satan. Sound teaching of the Gospel will be replaced by fables and secular teachings. As true love for God and His teachings falter, the False Prophet will find it easier to establish his false religion (Revelation, chapter 13) to worship the Antichrist and, ultimately, Satan. Even though the love of many Christians will fall, especially in developed nations, evangelism (the sprad of the Gospel of Jesus Christ) will increase, especially in under-developed countries. Early Christianity was initially embraced by poorer, downtrodden persons, and Christianity may be embraced enthusiastically by poorer, downtrodden persons at the end of the age. God promises that He will outpour His Spirit in a magnificent way in the last days (Joel 2:28-29). Jesus promises that the Gospel will be preached in the whole world, as a testimony to all nations, before the end will come. BRIEF PROPHECY SKETCH: Drugs and other excapes from reality will characterize the end of days. Strong delusion has affected many millions of persons through the abuse of alcohol and other drugs. The word translated "sorcery" or "magic spell" in Revelation (chapters 13 and 18) is the Greek word pharmakei, from which pharm- root comes various words related to drugs (pharmacy, pharmacist, pharmaceutical, and so forth). Drugs and other means of escaping reality and reliance upon God will be used by Satan in the last days and during the Tribulation to maintain a docile, compliant, un-thinking population dependent upon the next thrill. In the Olivet Discourse, Jesus mentioned "earthquakes in various places" as a sign of the nearness of His return. Seismologists disagree whether there has been a recent increase in the number of earthquakes. Whether earthquakes are increasing, we are able to learn of earthquakes almost as soon as they happen. In Jesus' time, people were aware of earthquakes only if they felt them or were told of such earthquakes by travelling caravan drivers. With satellite news coverage and Internet seismic postings, we can know of earthquakes from any part of the world within seconds or minutes of their happening. During the Tribulation, heavenly bodies (asteroids, meteorites) will crash into Earth, killing many persons and creating climactic and agricultural devastation.
